Verify Your Identity
Identity verification is a required step for students getting started with Grossmont College.
You may complete identity verification before or after filling out your application. However, your application will not be delivered to Grossmont College until your identity is verified, or you are cleared through another approved process.
Students may complete verification through direct approved pathways depending on age, circumstances, and available documentation.
Students 18 and older are encouraged to complete identity verification using one of two ways:
Option 1: Verify through CCCApply by using the authentication system California DMV Mobile Wallet (mDL) or ID.me.
Option 2: "Verify Later" in Person. You can click "Verify Later" during the application process to skip this step and continue with your application.
Verify Identity in Person
After submitting an application, you must come in person to the Admissions and Records Office in Building 10. Failure to provide picture identification when completing the authentication process in a timely manner will limit your ability to register for classes.
What to Bring
- A government-issued photo ID, such as a driver's license, state ID card, passport, permanent resident card, or consular ID
- Your CCCApply confirmation number
Grossmont College has the right to request additional documentation.
Some students may prefer to skip verification if they:
- Do not have a permanent address (housing insecure/homeless)
- Are minors (under the age of 18)
- Prefer not to use biometric verification methods
- Want to complete their application quickly and verify later
- Are participating in a special admission or dual enrollment pathway
The DMV Mobile Wallet is a free app that gives students the ability to use their Mobile Driver's License to verify their identity using an iOS or Android device.
- Use this option if you have a valid, unexpired California Driver's License or California ID card.
- This option is only available for California-issued IDs or driver's licenses.
If you do not have a California ID or license, use the ID.me verification option instead.
