All meeting times are 11:00-12:20pm and are held in the Griffin Gate unless otherwise indicated.

 

On February 6, 2023, the Senate voted to return to in-person meetings and allow for teleconferencing from senators using AB 2449 guidelines.  For Senators who would like to make this request, please fill out the form HERE.  If possible, please submit your request no later than 5pm on the Wednesday prior to the Senate meeting.      

 

For members of the public or for Senators who have approval to teleconference, please use the link below to access the meeting.  For security reasons, we will continue to verify all attendees using the college staff directory.  If you are not in our directory please notify us at the email link below of your plan to attend to ensure access to the meeting.

What are the Senate's role and responsibilities?

The Academic Senate, representing the faculty of Grossmont College, consults collegially with both the college administration and the Governing Board (in line with AB1725) to reach mutual agreement on the development of policies and procedures related to academic and professional matters.

 

What are academic and professional matters?

  1. Curriculum, including established prerequisites and placing courses within disciplines;
  2. Degree and certificate requirements;
  3. Grading policies;
  4. Educational program development;
  5. Standards or policies regarding student preparation and success;
  6. District and College governance structures as related to faculty roles;
  7. Faculty roles and involvement in the accreditation process, including the College's self-study and other annual reports;
  8. Policies for faculty professional development activities;
  9. Processes for program review;
  10. Processes for institutional planning and budget development; and
  11. Other academic and professional matters as mutually agreed upon between the Governing Board and Academic Senate.
