Every semester Grossmont College offers Professional Development opportunities in both Online Learning and Canvas. Please contact Grossmont.Canvas or visit the Professional Development department for more information.
Our next facilitated course will start on September 13, 2021. The six-week course introduces you to teaching an online class using the Canvas learning management system and includes a module on Designing for Accessibility. You will learn how the system works through a series of curated readings and recall what you have learned through formative quizzes. You will also practice what you have learned through a series of hands-on exercises focused on the subject you teach. The final project will require you to have at least two modules, plus an orientation module built for a course you plan on teaching in the future. There will be an orientation session held via Zoom on June 14th and weekly office hours to go over materials and discuss questions. Please fill out the registration form for the training.
We are currently offering a self-paced version of our Introduction to Teaching with Canvas course each semester. Please fill out the registration form for the training.
Please check out the training page in GC Canvas Resources for additional workshops and training opportunities. All faculty are automatically enrolled in GC Canvas Resources, look for it on your Canvas Dashboard. If it is not on your dashboard click on "Courses", then "all courses" in the global navigation. Email Grossmont.Canvas if you have questions or do not see GC Canvas Resources in your course list.
Here are a series of video and tutorials to help instructors learn the basics about Canvas.
