Humanities

As Britannica notes, the study of “humanities [includes] those branches of knowledge that concern themselves with human beings and their culture or with analytic and critical methods of inquiry derived from an appreciation of human values and of the unique ability of the human spirit to express itself.

Courses in the humanities are designed to cultivate intellect, imagination, sensibility, and sensitivity. Students will study great works of the human imagination and will examine their own aesthetic and creative experience. Awareness and appreciation of humanistic disciplines will be explored and encouraged. Students will be exposed to the study of human culture from a variety of perspectives.
