When and Where

 

The Transfer Achievement Celebration will take place in the Transfer Center at Grossmont College.  We are located in Building 10, Room 173.

 

The Transfer Achievement Celebration will be ongoing throughout finals week.  We invite you to attend at a time that works with your schedule.

Wednesday, May 31, 2023, 8:00am - 5:00pm

Thursday, June 1, 2023, 8:00am - 5:00pm

Friday, June 2, 2023, 8:00am - 1:00pm

Transfer Recognition Cord

 

You are transferring!  And we want to recognize your success!  You are invited to visit the Transfer Center to pick up a Transfer Recognition Cord that you can wear during the graduation Commencement Ceremony!  If you are not participating in the ceremony, yes, you may still pick up a Recognition Cord to celebrate your achievement.

 

To pick up a Recognition Cord, please bring your offer of admission and visit the Transfer Center during the Transfer Achievement Celebration May 30th - June 5th.

Have any last questions before you start at the university?  Transfer Center Counselors are available in the Transfer Center by appointment during the Spring 2023 semester.  Call 619-644-7215 to schedule an appointment.

 

You may also stop in to say hello during finals week when Counselors will be available on a drop-in basis.  Let us know how you are doing and where you are transferring.  And we will be happy to answer any remaining questions.  It will be great to see you!

We encourage you to share with us and your classmates your transfer success!  You have put forth much effort to get to where you are...let's CELEBRATE!!!  Share your achievements on Facebook or Instagram and don't forget to tag your Transfer Center!

There are likely special people that have supported you in your educational journey.  Whether they be mentors, family members, friends, colleagues, instructors, staff members, classmates, scholarship donors, financial aid advisors, counselors, the list can go on and on.  Show your appreciation for their support.  Thank you's are wonderful to give and to receive!

 

You are welcome to use the Campus Directory to send a thank you via email to staff, faculty (Counseling and Instructional) or administrators on campus...but don't stop there, thank those who support you at home and out in the community as well!

 

Would you rather write a Thank You notecard?  They will be available at the Transfer Achievement Celebration open house during finals week.  And we will be happy to deliver it to the appropriate campus mailbox on your behalf.  Sending to someone off-campus, you can take it with you for special personal delivery!

 

And, let us Thank You for being our wonderful students.  We are all so blessed to be able to be a part of your journey, thank you for allowing us to share in it!  Thank YOU!

 

Pay It Forward

 

Each year we gather advice from transfer students for transfer students to share on display in the Transfer Center!  Your words of wisdom mean so much to the students who visit.  They are encouraged by you to continue in their educational journey even when times are rough.  And they take to heart the advice you give knowing that you have been admitted to the university!

 

 

Commencement Activities

 

Students who are graduating with an Associate degree or certificate are encouraged to participate in the graduation celebrations as well!  Visit the Commencement website for details.

San Diego Education Consortium Scholarships

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Transferring from a local Community College to an SDEC school in fall 2023
    • Grossmont College is a local Community College!
    • SDEC schools: Alliant International University, Azusa Pacific University, Design Institute of San Diego, University of Massachusetts Global, DeVry University, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, National University, NewSchool of Architecture and Design, Point Loma Nazarene University, University of Phoenix, University of Redlands, University of Saint Katherine
  • 2.5 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale
  • Completion of a minimum of 12 units from a local San Diego Community College
  • Unofficial Transcript verification

How to Apply:

  • Write a 500 words (max) essay on the following prompt: Please describe how you have prepared for your intended major, including your readiness to succeed in upper-division courses once you start your program.  Please also be sure to note your financial needs and personal accomplishments.
  • Send essay and unofficial transcript to sdeducationc@gmail.com.  Your Grossmont College unofficial transcript can be downloaded from your Self-Service account.

Application Deadline: June 30, 2023

Peggy Gray Spanninga Transfer Scholarship

10 scholarships are available specifically for Grossmont/Cuyamaca College students transferring to a 4-year university in Fall 2023!  The scholarships are worth $5,000 each.
