Application Process

Telemetry / EKG Technician Application Process:

 

Note: Classes will be offered when minimum enrollment numbers are met. Check with Telemetry / ECG program office to determine next available start dates.

 

To submit an application, the following is required;

  1. The prerequisite course for the Telemetry/ECG program is Principles of Biology (BIO 120 at Grossmont College) with a grade of 'C' or higher. Submit your sealed, official transcript verifying completion. If the biology course was taken at Grossmont or Cuyamaca College, a transcript can be obtained by the program office. If the prerequisite is not listed on the  Equivalency Grid of San Diego Area Community Colleges, please include a college catalog course description for the course in the year in which it was completed.  A syllabus may be requested if the course description is not sufficient


  2. Provide proof of the following immunizations and / or tests:

    1. Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR): 2 vaccinations or a positive test for immunity.

    2. Hepatitis B (Hep B): 3 vaccinations or a positive test for immunity- 'HBsAb Quantitative' test for immunity should be requested. (The vaccination series takes approximately 6 months to complete-please plan accordingly).  All students must receive the test for immunity once invited into the program.

    3. Tetanus / Diphtheria Accelullar Pertussis (Tdap): 1 vaccination of Tdap given in 2005 or later and a Td booster every 10 years thereafter

    4. Varicella: 2 vaccinations or a positive test for immunity.

Submit a EKG-Telemetry Technician application in person to the program office-Building 34-256, Health & Science Complex. If living outside of San Diego County, the application and all materials may be mailed.

 

If courses were taken outside of the United States, official transcripts must be evaluated by a credentialing service acceptable by the Grossmont Cuyamaca Community College District. GCCCD accepts evaluated transcripts from companies listed on the National Accreditation Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) at www.naces.org.

 

Students invited into the program must submit a satisfactory physical examination, a 2-step TB test (2 separate tests), current CPR- American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider card, ADB background check and drug screen and evidence of malpractice insurance.  Specific information will be provided to the student once seat is accepted.
