Since 1968 the Hyde Art Gallery has provided fine art exhibitions and interdisciplinary programming to engage the diverse Grossmont College student population and the entire San Diego region. Our exhibitions feature local and international artists, along with lectures, walkthroughs, workshops, and other events to supplement the educational opportunities for Grossmont College students, staff, and faculty. Submission of exhibition proposals is open to all individual artists, artists groups, collectives, institutions, and independent curators, both regional and international.

Hyde Art Gallery main space

The Hyde Art Gallery is currently accepting proposals for solo and group exhibitions on a rolling basis for both exhibition spaces, our main gallery space and the Patterson Window Display. A typical academic year will include six month-long exhibitions, including one Faculty Exhibition per year and two semester-ending Student Art Exhibitions. The Hyde Art Gallery only offers exhibitions during the Fall and Spring semesters and will be closed during winter intersession and summer recess. Exhibitions are generally planned at least one year in advance. Please read through all guidelines listed below to ensure your proposal is given appropriate consideration.

Patterson Window Display

Submission of a proposal does not guarantee an exhibition, however all exhibition proposal submissions will be reviewed by gallery staff. The Hyde Art Gallery will do its best to respond to each submission and a gallery representative will contact you should additional materials be requested for further consideration. If your proposal is selected for scheduling, an exhibition agreement contract will be offered.

The Hyde Art Gallery will provide all promotional materials, installation/de-installation, insurance for artwork on display, coordination for education programming, and an evening reception event.
