Please follow these steps for a “Course-Selected Topics” proposal.

 

  1. Prepare your proposed Course Outline of Record.

  2. Complete the "Course-Selected Topics" appliation form for Curriculum Committee Review. Please review catalog descriptions in the "Courses of Instruction" section.

  3. Submit the Course-Selected Topics Form, attach the application, and COR.

Please follow these steps if you would like to propose a “Course Addition”

  1. Prepare your proposed Course Outline of Record for Curriculum Committee Review. You may obtain a sample from the Grossmont College intranet.

  2. Complete  the Course Addition Proposal Form
    You must attach the proposed COR to the form, be prepared.

  3. If you want to apply to have your course included in the General Education package for the AA/AS degrees, then you must also complete the appropriate General Education Proposal form

  4. Complete additional proposal forms as required:

    1. Letter(s) of Intent (LOI)
    2. Alignment Form
    3. Content Review Forms for Requisites 
    4. Distance Education Addendum

  5. If sending an LOI to Cuyamaca College, please coordinate with Instructional Operations

  1. Prepare the Course Outline of Record with modifications for Curriculum Committee Review. You may obtain the most current version on the Grossmont College intranet.

  2. Complete the Course Modification Proposal Form
    You must attach the modified COR to the form, be prepared.

  3. If you want to apply to have your course included in the General Education package for the AA/AS degrees, then you must also complete the appropriate General Education Proposal form

  4. Complete additional proposal forms as required:

    2. Alignment form
    3. Content Review Forms for Requisites

Discipline faculty, choosing to add a requisite, demonstrate through Content Review, that students are unlikely to succeed without the skills and knowledge learned in the prerequisite or recommended preparation course(s).

 

  1. Exit Skills: Students having successfully completed the requisite course (defined as by a “A”, “B”, “C” or “Pass”) exit the course with skills, competencies in and/or knowledge.

  2. Please list the skills, competencies, or knowledge a student will acquire by the end of the course.

  3. Complete the  Exit Skills Identification Form

Discipline faculty, choosing to add a requisite, demonstrate through Content Review, that students are unlikely to succeed without the skills and knowledge learned in the prerequisite or recommended preparation course(s).

 

  1. Please work with the faculty who teach the course and identify critical knowledge and skills necessary for students to have entering the course. Use the course syllabus, course outline, textbooks, tests, and class assignments to identify these skills. At least five entrance skills to be listed under Entrance Competencies.

  2. The Entrance Competencies must be matched to the Exit Skills of the prerequisite or recommended preparation course.

  3. Complete  the Entrance Skills Identification Form

Discipline faculty, choosing to add a requisite, demonstrate through Content Review, that students are unlikely to succeed without the skills and knowledge learned while enrolled in corequisite course(s).

  1. Be prepared to list specific knowledge and skills students need in each course, requisite and co-requisite course, to be successful (“A”, “B”, “C”, or “Pass”).

  2. Be prepared to summarize why the corequisite is necessary and how the courses complement each other.

  3. Complete the Corequisite Skills Identification Form

Letters of Intent and/or Alignment Forms

 

Letter of Intent (LOI) are initiated and executed to notify the appropriate chair or coordinator when a curriculum proposal affects another course, program, or certificate at Grossmont or Cuyamaca. Faculty completing the curriculum proposals can fill out the LOI and send to the appropriate faculty if at Grossmont College. Please coordinate with the Instructional Operations Supervisor if an LOI or Alignment form will be sent to Cuyamaca College.

 

  1. Complete an LOI form
  2. Complete an Alignment form 

Alignment Forms are initiated and executed to notify the appropriate chair or coordinator when a curriculum proposal affects an aligned course at Cuyamaca College. Further, an "Alignment Form" is always required if the following sections of the COR are being modified:

 

  • Subject
  • Subject Number
  • Units
  • Title
  • Prerequisite
  • Corequisite
  • Degree applicable/non-degree applicable status
  • Baccalaureate designation
  • General Education designation
  • Basic Skills designation.

 

Please coordinate with Instructional Operations to complete and send the LOI and/or Alignment form to Cuyamaca College.
