Hyde Art Gallery invites you to an open house reception for our newest exhibition, the GROSSMONT OPEN! Join us on Tuesday, August 31st from 4:00 - 6:00pm to view some of the artistic endeavors Grossmont College Faculty and Staff have accomplished while working remotely. This is the first in-person exhibition in our brand-new space in Grossmont College's beautiful Performing and Visual Arts Center.

The Fall 2021 semester represents a beginning of the slow return to normal in-person operations at Grossmont College. During this past year and a half, we’ve all been subjected to feelings of isolation and cynicism, but art and design often provided that crucial alternative outlet for expressing and detailing our unique experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic. Traditionally the first exhibition of the fall semester is the Visual Arts and Humanities Department’s faculty and staff exhibition, but this semester the Hyde Art Gallery has invited the entire Grossmont community to participate in sharing this distinctive body of work, created during an ongoing health crisis against the background of socio-political upheaval.

Featured Artists: Aaron Stark, Alex DeCosta, Alisha Lenning, Augusto Sandroni, Bill Mosley, Briana Miyoko Stanley, Christian Weiss, Christopher Lahti, Evan Lopez, Heidi Brar, Jade Solan, Jeff Kahn, Jennifer Anne Bennett, Joan Mathison, John Dillemuth, Larry and Debby Klein, Lee Puffer, Lisa Hutton, Lisa Mueller, Meredith Habermann, Misty Hawkins, Paul Turounet, Ruth Fátima Navarro, Ryan Griffith, Stephanie Bedwell, Suda House, Sydney Brown, Victoria Christine Rodriquez, and Yvette Dibos.

GROSSMONT OPEN will be on display until October 21st. Walk-in visitation is available for all students currently enrolled in any on-campus classes or any staff and faculty already approved to be on campus. Students learning remotely, faculty and staff operating remotely, and the general public can request an appointment to view the exhibition.
