Assessment

Getting Started

Welcome

The principle goal of the Assessment Office is to determine the skill levels of students in English, English as a Second Language (ESL), and Mathematics. An assessment process is used to determine appropriate skill levels and place students in classes where they can succeed.

All students who plan to register for an English, ESL, or Mathematics class at Grossmont College must take the English/Math assessment test, ESL assessment test, or provide proof of skill level.

To show proof of your skill level visit or call the Counseling Center (619)644-7208 or Assessment Office Rm 70-202 of the Tech Mall (619)644-7200 and provide the following documentation:

  1. Course work from another institution. Provide your own transcripts or grade report from that institution.

          or

   2.    Show assessment scores with course recommendation from

Mesa, Miramar, Palomar, MiraCosta, Southwestern, or

          Imperial Valley.

First time college students who complete Orientation/Assessment may register for a New Student Advising session.
