Current condition of equipment for labs in 208 and 274 needs immediate upgrades. Technology upgrades to instructor offices as needed. Photoshop upgrades very important.

Curriculum Impact
The quality of instruction and learning can be enhanced with the addition of or improvements in studio equipment.

Approximate Number of Students Served
Currently the drawing and painting areas serves approximately 250-300 students.

Technical upgrades of audio visual equipment, and equipment in lab as explained.

Year 1 (2004-2005)

Equipment upgrades in room 208 as stated above. Exhaust system in Room 208.

Action to Meet Objective
Personnel needs: a tech support for repair/replace of desks in room 274 & 208

Year 2 (2005-2006)

Upgrade audio visual equipment in 208 and 274
Additional needs for new Full time faculty, CPU, monitor, software

Action to Meet Objective
Working with Instructional Media to upgrade to meet objectives to digital, multimedia standards.

Year 3 (2006-2007)

To better serve the current and future students of Grossmont College we need to upgrade and update the equipment and technology in the Drawing, Painting, and Design rooms: 208 and 274, and the adjacent offices: 277 and 209.

We are proposing new curriculum, such as ART 231, Figure Drawing II, in hopes to facilitate growth in our area as the rest of the art department expands into their new buildings. We plan to develop more new curriculum in the near future.

The upgrading of equipment and technology in these rooms and offices will help us better serve the students in an effective, safe, and more efficient manner.

This is a priority that will need addressing as soon as funding becomes available. Priority for 200 remodels.

Action to Meet Objective
Upgrade all tables and easels in 208.
Add wood working equipment to 208 for canvas stretcher and strainer construction.
Upgrade ventilation system in 208. This is a safety issue regarding proper ventilation for use of turpentine and solvents in oil painting process
Upgrade lighting systems in both 208 & 274. Installation of convertible skylights.
Repair/ replace one window shade in 274 (far right).

Emergency need: Macintosh Computers

1. Two Mac 24" 2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo (Emergency need).

2. MacBook 13" black, 2.0 GHz Intel Core Duo $2250.

Note: The computer Jennifer Bennett is currently using is on loan temporarily to her from the Sculpture Area. This loaned IMAC was purchased for the Sculpture area with the Department Chair's comp money (Salary) for the new sculpture building, and will be moved there in January of 2007 as it will be needed for an assigned faculty office.
