Grossmont College Police Academy cadet graduating at age 73

Brian Duncan has wanted to be a cop for as long as he could remember, but for the 73-year-old El Cajon resident, that wish has remained an unrequited dream. At least until now. He is one of 15 cadets to be graduating Friday from Grossmont College’s 32nd Police Academy and he has his sights set next on joining the El Cajon Police Department as a reserve officer. ...read more

Grossmont College student wins international broadcasting award
04/09/2018 - Grossmont College broadcast student Alan Perales knows a good story when he sees it. Accompanying his father on a hospital visit for a combat injury from the Vietnam War, Perales had the idea to chronicle the plight of injured veterans in a radio documentary for a Media Communications class. On Sunday, he picked up a first-place international broadcasting award in Las Vegas in the 2018 BEA Festival of Media Arts, billed as the world’s largest digital media and broadcast competition for students and faculty. The Broadcast Education Association is an international professional association for instructors, students and industry professionals in electronic media and multimedia enterprises.

12/20/2017 - The first cohort of students earning a bachelor’s degree through a partnership between Cuyamaca College and Point Loma Nazarene University secured their diplomas during a Dec. 16 commencement – just 15 months after the affiliation was launched.

Bill Garrett selected for 11th year as Governing Board president
12/12/2017 - For the 11th year in a row, Bill Garrett was selected Tuesday night as president of the Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District Governing Board. Board member Edwin Hiel was elected vice president, and board member Debbie Justeson was selected to serve as clerk of the board.

Registration open for four-week intersession classes
11/17/2017 - Registration is now open for spring intersession classes at Grossmont and Cuyamaca colleges. Students attend classes Jan. 2-27 and can complete a course, including those satisfying general education requirements, in just four weeks.

09/22/2017 - Grossmont College’s Hyde Art Gallery will present “Tiempos Complicados,” or “Complicated Times,” by Marianela de la Hoz, Sept. 25 – Oct. 10. The exhibition is sponsored by Grossmont College’s Student Success & Equity Fund and the college’s Latin@ Alliance.
