Portable WiFi Hotspot Distribution

Monday, November 23rd at 12 noon to 3 p.m.
Tuesday, November 24th at 9 a.m. to 12 noon
Monday, November 30th at 12 noon to 3 p.m.
Parking Lot 1


  • The LTR and Student Services are collaborating to distribute recently-purchased portable WIFI hotspots to students. Student Communication went out on Thursday, November 19th.
  • During pickup, students should stay in their cars to avoid temperature checks.
  • Students and LTR staff must wear masks during all transactions.
  • Students must show Grossmont College IDs or driver's licenses through their windows for LTR staff to verify names and checkout.
  • To prevent direct contact, students should open the windows of their back seats or their car trunks; LTR staff will place the hotspot boxes there.
  • Emails will be sent out by the LTR Success Coaches with instructions.



Drop-off Days for Library Returns

Monday to Wednesday, December 14-16, 2020
12 noon to 5:30 p.m.
Parking Lot 1


  • All checked out materials from the Spring and Fall semesters, including Reserves materials, calculators, Chromebooks, and Math Kits, may be returned.
  • Students should stay in their cars to avoid temperature checks.
  • Students and library staff must wear masks during all transactions.
  • Faculty and Staff may return checked out materials as well.
  • Look for emails with reminders and further instructions!



During the COVID-19 Closure

  • The Grossmont College Library building will remain closed until further notice.
  • Library Staff are working remotely and are available virtually to assist during business hours.
  • In accordance with GCCCD guidelines, anyone on campus must:
    • Get a temperature check at one of the check stations.
    • Wear a mask.
    • Maintain social distancing of six (6) feet.
    • Wash hands often.
  • Any library materials returned during the closure are:
    • Handled with masks and gloves.
    • Go through a 48-72 hour quarantine period as suggested by the library standards of the OCLC Realm Project.
    • Wiped down with antibacterial cleaning wipes if possible.
    • Checked in and shelved as soon as the quarantine and cleaning process is complete.

Borrowing/Using Library Resources

  • Calculators were offered to Math students via their instructors in October and are due December 14th. 
  • Look for your emails with further instructions.

Accessing Reserves through Leganto
  • Instructors and students can now access Library Reserves easily through Canvas.
  • Students:
    • Log-in to Canvas and go to your course
    • Look for the hyperlink Resource List in the left-hand menu of your course
    • Please note not all instructors place course materials on Reserves
  • Instructors:


FOR INSTRUCTORS: Digitized Reserves
  • Currently the physical Reserves Collection is not available. Copyright law allows the Library to scan a chapter of your book and make it available through Canvas. This service is available at the beginning of the semester and on a limited basis afterwards.
  • Please email  to make your request and provide information. 
  • Digital reserves materials should be added to your Canvas courses using the Leganto Resource List. This will assure the appropriate students have access under the Copyright Fair Use guidelines.  Need to add Leganto to your Canvas courses? Library Distribution Spring 2021
Library General Request Form

Once distribution is approved, current students, Faculty and Staff must complete a [Library General Request Form] to borrow materials.  Library materials available to borrow will include:

  • Calculators
  • Math Kits

We are awaiting approval to loan:

  • Chromebooks and laptop sets
  • Headphones
  • Stacks books from the second floor
Next Phase of Reopening
  • Library Staff will return to campus for limited hours, but the library building will remain closed to the public.
  • In this phase, Requests, Curbside Pickups and Returns would resume on a limited basis throughout the semester. Scheduled pickups and returns will be handled at Parking Lot 1, with patrons remaining in their cars throughout the transaction.
  • ILL requests for physical materials will recommence.
  • Moving to this phase is contingent upon GCCCD and State guidelines and best practices.
