Peer Counseling Club

The Student-to-Student Peer Counseling Club was founded in January of 2012, and is designed to provide empathy training to college students. Upon successful completion of training, students will receive a certificate and will be able to meet one-on-one with fellow students as a certified Peer Counselor. Although empathy is a skill basic to counseling and psychotherapy, the training does not seek to train people in practicing psychotherapy – nor does it qualify any of our students to do so. Rather, it offers training in specific skills that are helpful and necessary in any situation regarding a thorough understanding of others and their feelings.

Psychology Club

The Psychology Club at Grossmont College provides students with a community of people who are interested in psychology as a science as well as ample opportunities to learn more about psychology through on and off campus events. Past events have included career and graduate student panels, movie screenings, and brain dissections.
