Service Organizations

AKTION
Our purpose shall be to provide opportunities for the disabled people on campus to not only socialize with others but to aid our community through volunteer service.
CIRCLE K
Our purpose shall be to proved opportunity for students, staff and community members to aid our community through volunteer services.
COMMUNITY HANDS INTO LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT (CHILD)
The purpose of this club shall be to enrich the school and community by reaching out to charitable organizations and provide help when and where needed by providing scholarship opportunities to students of Grossmont College.
PHI THETA KAPPA HONOR SOCIETY (PTK)
To promote scholarship, community service, encourage social and cultural experiences, develop character and leadership abilities.
 


Departmental

ACJA/LAE/GXX
The purpose of this organization shall be to promote, educate and enhance the members’ knowledge of the criminal justice field by providing educational activities through professional networking for the knowledge of the members.
CALIFORNIA NURSING STUDENT ASSOC. (CNSA)
To contribute to the nursing education, provide programs representative of fundamental and current professional interests and to aid in the development of persons in health care fields.
CARDIOVASCULAR TECHNOLOGY CLUB
To further the profession of Cardiovascular Technology, and enhance the field to all interested persons.
CERAMIC CITY CLAY CLUB
To enrich the educational process by expanding knowledge of the ceramic arts at Grossmont College and in the community.
CHILD DEVELOPMENT STUDENT ASSOC. (CDSA)
To provide a support network for Child Development students and act as advocates for the Early Childhood Development Program.
EOPS
The purpose of this organization shall be to provide students an opportunity to participate in servicing the needs of Grossmont College’s disadvantaged student population.
ESL
The purpose of the ESL Club shall be to help ESL students improving their English, especially their speaking and listening skills and to have fun by exploring American cultures and others around the world.

HUMANITIES CLUB
The purpose this organization shall be to promote the education and understanding of humanities in all myriad forms.
OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY CLUB (OTA)
To stimulate interest and awareness in the profession of Occupational Therapy and provide a supportive network for OTA students.
PHOTO CLUB
To educate and enrich members in aspects of photography as a medium, and to support the instructional photography program.
RESPIRATORY THERAPY CLUB (RTC)
To further educational opportunities and promote R.T. as a profession.
SCULPTURE CLUB
The purpose of this club shall be for the promotion and appreciation of sculpture.

Ethnic

BLACK STUDENT UNION (BSU)
The purpose of this organization shall be to develop the intellectual and moral character of the African-American student and to provide an ethnic awareness on the Grossmont College campus.
INTERNATIONAL CLUB
To form relationships among international students, assist in their orientation and development while attending Grossmont College, and learn about different cultures.
JAPAN CLUB
The purpose of the Grossmont College Japan Club is to spread, promote and advance the Japan culture at Grossmont College and in the San Diego area, create a network for all students at Grossmont College, and serve as a link between Grossmont College and Japan Companies, Universities and Associations.
NATIVE AMERICAN STUDENT ALLIANCE (NASA)
The purpose of this club is participation and community education of Native American politics, culture, history and craft.
PUENTE CLUB
To promote higher education within the Latino Community.
SPANISH CLUB
The purpose of the Spanish Club is to offer its members the opportunity to develop cultural awareness with regards to traditions, customs, belief systems, myths, legends, values and perspectives of any or all Spanish speaking cultures.
VIETNAMESE STUDENT ASSOCIATION (VSA)
This is an organization dedicated to promote an awareness and diversity of the Vietnamese culture. VSA serves to provide an opportunity for members to share, interact and exchange ideas vital to the growth and prosperity of the community for those of Vietnamese and non-Vietnamese descent. VSA is a non-profit, non-political organization existing only to unite and enlighten all regardless of status and background.

Religious

CAMPUS CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP (Non-denominational) (CCF)
Will offer a loving and caring outreach to all those wishing to know about Jesus Christ and the Bible through Bible study, live worship, fellowship and outings.
FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN ATHLETES
To glorify our Lord Jesus Christ through fellowship, outreach and growth.
JEWISH STUDENT UNION
The purpose of this organization shall be to strengthen Jewish identity through social, cultural, educational and community building activities.
LATTER-DAY SAINTS STUDENT ASSOCIATION
The purpose of this organization shall be to assist students in balancing their academic, social, cultural and religious education.
MUSLIM STUDENT ASSOCIATION (MSA)
The purpose of the Muslim Student Association shall be to provide information about the Islamic faith and discuss the impact of western attitudes and the Islamic faith.
SGI CLUB – BUDDHISTS FOR WORLD PEACE
The primary purpose of this organization is to become involved in the community through SGI Club sponsored College activities; to build a network of friendship and trust within the community; to encourage and support GC students to win their academic studies and to win in their communities for world peace.

Special Interest

CHEER
ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS: RECOGNIZING THE HABITAT Club (EARTH)
To expand environmental consciousness at Grossmont College as well as the surrounding area.
FENCING
The purpose of this organization will be to talk over fencing problems, work on correcting them and hold fencing practice for the members.
FUTURE BROADCASTERS ASSOCIATION (FBA)
The purpose of this organization shall be an association for students interested in being in the field of broadcasting (Audio or Video) for a career or as a hobby.
PARENTS GEARED FOR SUCCESS
The purpose of this organization is threefold: Consciousness, Support Group, Political Consciousness and the Preservation of the Organization. Raising the awareness of the student body and faculty regarding the needs and challenges of students who are parents and developing an understanding of the special circumstances faced by parents, particularly single parents, as they pursue their educational and career goals. Serving as a support group for members, as well as a focal point for sharing knowledge necessary but often not provided to the parent when or as needed. Serving as a means of disseminating information pertaining to issues affecting the Student Parent. Passing on experiences and knowledge to incoming members.
SOCIETY FOR CREATIVE ANACHRONISM, College of St. Isidore
The Society for Creative Anachronism, College of St. Isidore, shall be dedicated primarily to the promotion of research and re –creation in the field of pre-17th-century Western culture.
SIZE ACCEPTANCE
The purpose of this organization shall be to promote size acceptance among all college bound students; to promote self-confidence and self-esteem in students regardless of size through active participation in the community and in social activities; to change negative attitudes about weight in our community; to encourage self acceptance to all members, so that they are able to stand proud in the community.
