- Sponsored the 25th Annual Silver Anniversary Career Expo
which drew 115 exhibitors and more than 3500 participants
seeking job placement, career options, and internships.

Hosted three Speech/Debate Tournaments on campus which
brought elementary, high school, and college students to the
Grossmont campus.

Provided a High School Dance Day to 250 high school
students through classes and performances offered by the
Dance Department.

Organized and implemented an Adult Reentry Program
Workshop series, with doubled attendance; improved and
updated the Adult Reentry Program website.

Promoted outreach to several San Diego based community
organizations, including: San Diego Blood Bank; San Diego
Chargers Charities; Broadcast of local High School sports on
KGFN.

Expanded AOJ outreach and articulation activities with
K-12 school districts and postsecondary education
institutions, partnerships with area high schools (Granite
Hills and El Capitan).

Extended History Department and Grossmont’s connections
with the community through placement of CSL students at a
local middle school, two museums, a cultural center, and
non-profit service providers.

Continued to expand and develop Political Economy Week,
which now includes numerous offerings from Political Science
faculty.

Presented the 16th Annual Grossmont College Pow-Wow, with
approximately 1200 participants and raised $3200 for the
Grossmont College American Indian Scholarship Fund.

Mounted seven public exhibitions in the Hyde Gallery, and
conducted the Annual High School Art Outreach Program.

Conducted our second Annual Native Speakers Series with
different speakers addressing topics and issues relevant to
Indian community.

Implemented the second year of the Gaining Early Awareness
and Readiness for Undergraduate Program (GEAR UP) in
collaboration with the Cajon Valley Middle School, El Cajon
Valley High School, East County Boys & Girls Club, and Cox
Communications.

Conducted a parent training workshop series through the
Parent Institute for Quality Education to nearly 100
families at the Cajon Valley Middle School as part of the
GEAR UP Program.

Initiated series of Spanish-language interviews featuring
Grossmont College personnel on Univision KBNT-TV.

Prepared multiple entries for state, regional and national
competitions to showcase work of Grossmont College faculty
and staff, producing 13 winning entries.

Coordinated distribution of Grossmont College class
schedules and other promotional materials to East County
high schools, community centers, and libraries.

Developed and placed print ads in local print media, high
school yearbooks and student newspapers.

Placed 800 students in jobs through the Career and Student
Job Placement Center in companies such as Sea World,
SportService, Ralph’s, and UPS.

Customized career development and job search training for
disabled and local high school students (85); Middle College
High School students (32); Padre Dam employees (25); and the
San Diego Urban League Career Fair (7,000).
