Grossmont College Foundation to Hold Annual Gala
"Beyond 40 Years" Saturday, October 19
El Cajon- Three
hundred patrons are expected to fill the Grossmont College Student
Center "Ballroom" the evening of October 19 to celebrate the
college's 41st anniversary and to raise funds to benefit the
students of Grossmont College through the Foundation.
According to Dr. Ted Martinez, Jr., Grossmont College
president, "This annual event is an opportunity for our Foundation
Board and our community to come together to celebrate our
institution's history and success. We look forward to another
gracious and enjoyable evening of fabulous food, exciting auctions,
and dancing."
The evening begins with a reception and silent auction
at 6 p.m., followed by a dinner program and live auction at 7:30
p.m. Local event host and master of ceremonies Stephen B. Hamann
will also serve as auctioneer.
Major event sponsor is Barona Casino, and sponsorships
are available at a variety of levels. Individual seating is $75 per
person.
Patrons will bid on more than 100 live and silent
auction items including airfare,
hotel accommodations, restaurants, jewelry, and many one-of-a-kind
packages; compete to win $500 cash grand prize and other terrific
prizes in the opportunity drawing; and to reunite with old friends
at the special Grossmont retiree reception at 6 p.m.
Musical entertainment will be performed by Grossmont
College students and faculty and complimentary valet parking will be
provided. The gourmet meal will be catered by Aztec Shops Dining
Services.
Last year's event was sold out. Foundation Executive
Director Howard Kummerman reminds patrons that reservations are
limited to the first 300 guests and must be received by October 4.
