FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 28, 2002

April in Paris Arrives at Grossmont College April 10
Will Showcase Upcoming Summer Study Abroad in Paris, France

The food, art and music of France will transform Grossmont College into a Parisian café and street scene April 10, complete with artists painting and sketching, musicians, and vendors of fine French delicacies. Patrons will have their portraits sketched and enjoy croissant sandwiches made with marvelous French cheeses. Activities begin at 11 a.m. and will conclude at 2 p.m.

Sponsored by the Grossmont College departments of foreign language, culinary arts, music, art, and the Associated Students of Grossmont College, the "Monmartre" activities in the Student Center Quad are free, and are designed to showcase the Grossmont College foreign language French program, and the upcoming summer session in Paris, France, June 13 - July 26.

According to Grossmont College President, Dr. Ted Martinez, Jr., "We expect many students and community members to take advantage of this economical and worth-while study abroad opportunity, including the options to earn up to 12 college credits with classes in art, culinary arts and French."

An eagerly anticipated feature is "Le Café de Paris" luncheon, co-sponsored by the Grossmont College Foundation in the Café de Paris (snack bar patio.) The multi-course gourmet meal of French cuisine will begin at 11:30 a.m. and will be prepared by the Grossmont College culinary arts students under the direction of Joe Orate. The entrée is Poulet Saute au Beurre Blanc aux Fines herbes" (breast of chicken sautéed with butter, herbs and white wine). Reservations are required and available at $40 per person, with proceeds designated to support student clubs and scholarships in art, music and French. For reservations for "Le Café de Paris" call 619-644-7109.
