Grossmont College Students to Receive Scholarships,
Achievement & Service Awards May 3

El Cajon - Grossmont College will honor students for academic achievement and service at the 40th annual Scholarship and Service Awards Ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 3 at the Student Center.

Business and Professional Studies, Communication and Fine Arts, Humanities and Social and Behavioral Sciences, and Mathematics, Natural Science and Physical Education will honor the student chosen by their respective divisions with $500 awards.

"This is the time for our students to shine," said Dr. Ted Martinez, Jr., college president. "We applaud their success, and look forward to celebrating their academic and community achievements."

Students selected for these awards have distinguished themselves academically, and have performed significant campus or community service. Individual disciplines within each division will also honor a top student. The Associated Students of Grossmont College is the event sponsor.

One of the highlights of the evening will be the announcement of the Man and Woman of Distinction Awards, given to two students who have provided leadership and service to the college through student government, campus clubs or intercollegiate sports.

The more than 100 achievements awards and scholarships are made possible by donations from area service clubs, campus organizations, individuals and corporations, and by the Grossmont College Foundation.

Grossmont College is at 8800 Grossmont College Drive in El Cajon. For directions to Grossmont and a campus map, please visit www.grossmont.net.
