Randall Tweed, Music Director
The Grossmont
Symphony Orchestra (GSO), under the musical direction of
Dr. Randall Tweed,
is a seventy-five member orchestral ensemble comprised of music and
non-music majors, and talented musicians from the community. The
orchestra, whose musical performance home is El Cajon's own "East County
Performing Arts Center"
(ECPAC), performs
a large variety of concerts from serious classical "arts" performances
to lighter "pops" entertainment. Local and nationally reputed
performing artists are frequent soloists with the GSO.
The GSO is a course
offering in the music department of Grossmont College. Membership is
by successful audition and enrollment. Membership through the
"auditing" process may occur upon successful completion of four
semesters of registered credit. Visit the GSO's personal page for more
information on just some of it's members.
The 2002-2003
performance season of the Grossmont Symphony Orchestra continues its
dedication of programming highly diverse classical orchestral repertoire
emphasizing a mixture of "the Classics" with highly innovative and
unique works from the Twentieth Century. From F. J. Haydn to A.
Honegger, and R. J. Bass to L. Bernstein, the GSO performs a
season of classical music sure to inspire, educate, and entertain.
Music that is performed by East County musicians for East
