For Spring 2009 enrolled students (and students wishing to
add), it is required/mandatory to attend the class orientation
otherwise you will be dropped from the course.
Note for students wishing to add: students wishing to add will be
enrolled in Blackboard only AT the orientation. The student then
must enroll officially with Admissions and Records with the add code
provided at the orientation.
I do not email add codes. Sorry.
Dates and times:
Come prepared to take notes
When/Where:
January 23rd 2009, Friday
Both sections of History 108: #7814 & #7815
Grossmont campus, room 343A 10-11:20 am
A printed syllabus will be provided at the orientation and posted
(from the first day of class) in your Blackboard virtual classroom
within the 'Syllabus' link. Syllabi posted in this website are for
information purposes only.
Your
Blackboard online virtual classroom opens starting the
first day of the semester (no access to online class(es)
before this time). You will find the class you are enrolled in
through the blue hyperlink listed with the class name & section #.
If you are not an enrolled student see the class links or email me
for further information; however, if you would like an add code to
register for either of these classes I am providing add codes only
at the orientation. If presently open, I encourage you to enroll
early as my classes fill early and I do not have a history of
student drops after the course has begun to add students after the
orientation. Sorry...
As demonstrated
at the orientation that you will attend January 23, you will begin
your class from the first day of school (Jan 26) with the following:
-
log in on a reliable computer with internet connection
-
read the announcement page
-
follow the instructions regarding assignments as listed on the course
syllabi (a printed copy is provided at orientation and located in Blackboard in
the 'Syllabus' link once logged in) which parallels the
information posted on the announcement page (with additional
suggestions that will benefit you in this course) and GO!
It is not necessary to email me before the orientation;
roll will be taken at the orientation.
However, I will gladly answer your questions if you email me with
questions or comments. Getting logged into
Blackboard is the first step. Contact the Online Help Desk if you
have problems. I cannot help you with log-in issues.
A
new feature in my classes consists of streamed-media Video Lectures
(10 minute overviews) to be watched in conjunction with reading the
lecture notes and participating in the class in a variety of
activities.
Hosting provided by You Tube.

If you are interested in my classes, but have
other questions please email. However, no syllabi will be emailed to
students prior to the orientation.
Keep in mind...
Assignments are time and
date sensitive!
So getting into the
class after the orientation is the key to your success!
