  Office of the Attorney General  This "Criminal Justice Statistics Center"  gives links to a wide variety of publications focusing on the prevention of crime and violence in California.
Federal  
  Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives  Provides feature stories in a variety of categories, e.g., Arson, Violent Crime, and Gangs.
 
Fingerprint Identification: an Overview  Their mission: "To provide the highest standard of training for proper preparation and processing of fingerprint submissions and criminal history record data to our internal and external customers, to continue forging partnerships with the law enforcement community, working toward the common goal of reducing terrorist and criminal activities, to inspire change and develop innovative, effective training in accordance with the needs of our customers."
 
National Criminal Justice Reference Service  Frequently updated, this resource offers links to topics in these categories: Corrections, Courts. Crime, Crime Prevention, Drugs, Justice System, Juvenile Justice, Law Enforcement, and Victims (as well as an A-Z listing).
 
United States Department of Justice  Leads to useful links such as "most wanted" fugitives and missing persons, FBI publications and MUCH more.
Local  
  City of San Diego Police Department  Offers dozens of links such as: "Help Us Help You," "In Your Neighborhood,"  "Crime Statistics/Maps," and a list that lets you complete the sentence: "I want to..."
 
San Diego County Public Law Library  This very popular site proudly proclaims: "Serving the legal information needs of San Diego County  citizens since 1891." A new "Ask Now" link provides 24/7 chat reference.
Research  
  Court TV's Crime Library  Provides information in these categories: serial killers, notorious murders, criminal mind, terrorists & spies, and gangsters.  This is a commercial site (Courtroom Television Network), so use with caution.
 
Dr. Cecil Greek's "Criminal Justice Links" at Florida State University  A good "starting point" for inquisitive researchers who can select one of his "Major Pages" or search the site via a text-entry box located at the bottom of the left-edge margin.
 
Justice Studies at San Jose State University   A degree-granting program that "provides a broad, research based interdisciplinary curriculum that addresses issues of justice and injustice in our rapidly changing world."
 
Racial Profiling  "...occurs when race is used by law enforcement or private security officials, to any degree, as a basis for criminal suspicion in non-suspect specific investigations." Features the "AIUSA's groundbreaking 2004 report Threat and Humiliation: Racial Profiling, National Security, and Human Rights in the United States."  From Amnesty International USA.
