Online Tutorial
Please read this!
The Library
offers an online tutorial called LUCI
which
stands for "Library User Computer
Instruction." The tutorial takes
approximately 1 hour to complete. If you are
taking this as an assignment for a class,
you must submit the answers to both the tutorial and the quiz in
one sitting in order to
get credit.
To complete the online tutorial
LUCI, you must have the following on
your computer:
- Broadband
connection - Must be high speed, like cable
or DSL. A dial-up modem will not work. You can
test your bandwidth if you are not
sure.
- Headphones or speakers
- Some parts of the tutorial require sound.
- Adobe Flash Player
- You can check if you have Adobe Flash Player installed
by clicking here.
If you do not, you can download it by clicking this button:

- Adobe Reader - You can check if you
have Adobe Reader installed by clicking
here. If you do not, you can download it by clicking this button:

- Screen Resolution
- LUCI looks best with a minimum screen resolution of 1024 x 768.
However it is viewable at
800 x 600.
If your computer does
not meet these requirements, you can
come into the Grossmont College Library during these
hours to do the
tutorial. If you do not own headphones, you can check out a pair
from the Circulation Desk on the
first floor or the Media Desk on the second
floor of the Library.

TEXT-BASED TUTORIAL: If
your instructor has assigned the alternative
text-based tutorial
instead the LUCI tutorial, it may be completed by clicking
here.
The
text-based tutorial may also be completed instead of the
LUCI tutorial if your computer does not meet the requirements
for LUCI and you absolutely can not come
into the Library to do the assignment.
FOR NURSING STUDENTS: If you are a Nursing
student, an
in-depth tutorial for the CINAHL Plus database is available
for you. Please note that while most of the information in this
tutorial is correct, the information on how to access the CINAHL
Plus database is outdated. To do this, go to the Library's
homepage, hover your mouse over the Databases menu item on the
left side, and click on Database List. This will take you to an
alphabetical list of all of our databases. Scroll down and find
the link that says CINAHL Plus with Full Text. |
