Films by Subject

Find Grossmont Library's films by subject.  It's as easy as clicking on a subject from the list found on our Films by Subject page.

Films by Subject Flyers provide you with a sampling of the films available in various subject areas.

Film Booking Service

Faculty can book films in advance by contacting Karen McCoy (phone:
619-644-7491, email: karen.mccoy@gcccd.edu)  or Melissa Solis (phone: 619-644-7063, email: melissa_solis@gcccd.edu). Instructors can also provide a list of films and what dates the films will be needed. The request can be made at the beginning of each semester, or a few days before the film(s) are needed.

Films by Course Number

Go to Media Desk-- Quick Search and type in a course number to find films used by faculty for a particular course. 

• For example, to find films used by faculty teaching History 108, type in “hist 108”
• To find films used by faculty in a particular department, type in the four letter department code.  For example, type in "hist" to find films used by faculty in the History Department.

New Media Blog

Learn about some of the new films in the Grossmont Library collection by reading the New Media Blog.

Consortium Media Collection

Students and faculty have access to a collection of films that we share with other local community colleges.  Search the catalog for films, then request items by  sending an email to marty.armstrong@gcccd.edu, or by calling (619) 644-7376. Students can view films in the library. Faculty may check the films out.

Media Reserves

Place on Reserve at the Media Desk DVDs, CDs and other media that your students need to view to complete class assignments.

Professional Development Films:

1.       Faculty can view Professional Development Committee-approved films that are housed in the Grossmont College Library to satisfy development hours. 

2.   To see the list of films that count for professional development, go to the Library’s page and type “professional development films” into the search box.

3.   You MUST complete an evaluation form to get credit for any media viewing. (Note:  Part-time faculty must also make arrangements in advance with the Department Chair and Division Dean.)
