ED 214 is taught via the Internet.  Students may access the course on the first day of instruction.  If you are new to the online learning environment, please visit http://www.gcccd.net/online and go through the requirements and orientation for online classes. 

Course Description

An online course which covers online course models, online learning tools, learning theories and leads to a workable model to be used in an online course.  This course is intended for those who wish to teach online.

Course Objectives

  • Evaluate the composition and delivery mode of present online courses

  • Examine the various learning and teaching modes used in classroom instruction and used in online learning

  • Select the optimum learning and teaching modes for particular online courses

  • Analyze the various software programs for creation of online web pages

  • Recognize the differences in online management programs

  • Apply the various online learning tools which are beneficial to online learning

  • Employ Internet techniques to create a workable Webquest for student use in online courses

  • Compose a workable model for online learning

Course Requirements

  • Access to the Internet

  • Proficiency in the following computer skills
        -using a web browser
        -sending and receiving email
        -using a word processing program
        -sending attachments via email (in Word or other formats)

Course Outline

All students are expected to log in within the first two weeks of class or will be dropped from the course.
