A
Auditorium, Room 220
Theater Arts Complex
This auditorium and classroom is frequently the venue when greater attendance is expected. The room has comfortable, theater-like aisle
seating with two main doors of access, one of which is wheelchair accessible.
B
Bookstore
Located on the south side of the campus, the Barnes & Noble campus bookstore is a useful landmark by which to orient yourself if this is your
first time on the Grossmont College campus. It lies just to the west of the Student Center, where the Griffin Gate is host to many of the Literary Arts
Festival events. It is also situated directly east of Room 220, the other main festival venue.
C
Library and Tech Mall
The Library Resource Center is also at the very center of the Grossmont College campus. This two-story building is easily recognizable and is
also a good place to "hang out" and do a little reading or writing before the scheduled events.
D
District Offices
Situated on the northern-most outskirts of the campus, this complex of buildings contains the Office of the Chancellor as well as a variety of
other district and administrative positions. If you have reached this location, you are on the WRONG end of the campus for the Literary Arts Festival.
E
English Department
The Literary Arts Festival is organized and sponsored by the Creative Writing Program in the Grossmont College English Department. The
main offices of the English Department, including the Department Chair, are located in this complex of classrooms and office spaces. If
you are lost, don't hesitate to ask anyone working in this building where to go for a Festival event; they'll be happy to assist you.
F
Track and Field
If you've only ever attended sporting events at Grossmont College, this may be the most identifiable campus feature. However, it's not the
location for literary lectures, readings and workshops. Keep following the perimeter road around to the south end of the campus and enter
from Parking Lot 7.
G
Griffin Gate
This lounge at the southeast corner of the 600 Building (Student Center and Cafeteria) is the primary venue for readings and
guest lectures at the Literary Arts Festival: comfortable seating in a lounge environment, with lamps, couches, and hors d'oeuvres. Griffin Gate
can also be accessed from outside the 600 Building, through the outdoor patio area where guests break for intermission and take
their conversation, their snacks, and their cigarettes to the open air.
Highway Map
Visitor parking is available at the meters in front of the main administration building or in student parking lots using a one-day parking permit
available from the yellow permit machines located in all parking lots. Parking permits are $2.00.
Interstate 8
From Interstate 8, East or West, take Highway 125 North to the Grossmont College Drive exit. Turn right at the first stop light (Grossmont
College Drive). Go across the bridge to the second traffic signal. Go straight onto the Grossmont College perimeter road.
Highway 94
From Highway 94 East, take Highway 125 North to the Grossmont College Drive exit. Turn right at the first stop light (Grossmont College Drive). Go
across the bridge to the second traffic signal. Go straight on to the Grossmont College perimeter road.
Highway 52
