Description:
This
course introduces participants to the key concepts of data communications,
telecommunications and networking. It provides a solid introduction
to networking fundamentals including key acronyms, protocols, and
components that are essential to understanding how networks operate
today. Students will master the OSI; model, which is a theoretical
model, designed to facilitate an understanding of what happens in
a network. Upon completion, the participant will have a solid understanding
of how information travels from a source computer to a destination
computer across a complex network.

Description:
Topics
include coverage of the IBM PC Disk Operating System commands, including
an editor. Additional topics will include hooking your PC to peripheral
equipment, such as printers and modems. This course is designed
to provide an introduction to the concepts used with DOS (Disk Operating
System) and Windows NT on an IBM or compatible microcomputer.Course
content includes: DOS commands, directories, subdirectories, DOS
supplemental programs and Windows NT basics, working with files,
organizing files, customizing Windows NT, working with graphics,
OLE, printers, fonts, and disk maintenance

to LAN Management

Course
Description:
A
course in which the student learns entry level network management
and network analysis. Students will analyze, design and implement
a network for a fictitious company. The primary outcome from the
class will be a functioning LAN with complete written documentation
for the LAN topology, users, applications, security, menu, system
and user login script, configure LAN adapter cards and cables, manage
printers and print queues, troubleshoot and identify LAN problems.

in a computer science information systems occupation category leading
to a position in computer science or information systems. Trainee
spends a minimum of ten hours weekly in on-the-job training.Course
Prerequisites. Last semester in Computer Science Information
Systems certificate program or equivalent. Concurrent enrollment in
Computer Science Information Systems 280.
