All fees and dates are subject to change without notice. Course fees include a student ID and student benefit card. 

* Full tuition is due on the first day of the session (Orientation Day).  Tuition does not include the cost for textbooks, parking pass or medical insurance.  The estimated cost of textbooks needed for ACE classes is $200.  The cost for a Grossmont College parking pass is $40.  The estimated cost of medical insurance is $90 per month.

During the 8-week session, students will receive intensive English instruction in the following courses:

  • Grammar and Academic Writing

  • Reading and Vocabulary Development  

  • Listening and Speaking

  • Pronunciation

      ACE class lessons use intermediate to high-intermediate level English.  When enrollment allows, the program may offer two levels of instruction.  When this occurs, Level I is for students with high-beginning to low intermediate English skills.  Level II is for students with intermediate to high-intermediate English Skills.  A diagnostic test will be given on orientation day to determine each student's English proficiency level.

Note:  Summer Session is 9:00am - 2:20pm with no class on Fridays.

Transfer to Grossmont after ACE


Students enrolled in Level II ACE courses can qualify for conditional acceptance to Grossmont College if all of the following requirements are fulfilled during an eight-week session.

An ACE student must have:
1.  earned a combined GPA of 3.0,
2.  nine hours of absences or fewer,
3.  exhibited behavior with no violation of the Grossmont College Student Code of Conduct, and
4.  taken the Grossmont College ESL Assessment Test and placed into ESL 103 or higher.


Level II students who meet these standards are eligible to enroll at Grossmont College without the 45 TOEFL iBT/450 Institutional TOEFL requirement, provided that all other documents required by Admissions and Records have been submitted and approved.  

In addition to ACE conditional acceptance, student may also gain eligibility to register for classes at Grossmont College by achieving a TOEFL score of 45 on the iBT Internet-based test or 450 on the Institutional TOEFL paper-based test.  Grossmont College offers 16-week semester length courses and 8-week courses.  At the time an ACE session ends, a Grossmont session begins, making your transition to Grossmont an easy one.
