Arrival in U.S. and Visa

Immigration regulations allow students with an F-1 visa to use their I-20 to enter the U.S. up to 30 days prior to the program start date listed in Section 5 on their I-20.

You should plan to be in the U.S. at least one day before the orientation.  If you are unable to attend the orientation due to visa issues or airline ticket unavailability, you must contact International Admissions immediately.

Please contact International Admissions Specialists Sandy Kuntz at (619) 644-7177 sandy.kuntz@gcccd.edu or Mika Miller at (619) 644-7182 mika.milller@gcccd.edu.

The 30 day period is an immigration law, and students may be turned away at the port of entry if they arrive earlier.
