This course
introduces students to the sounds of Standard American
English.

Students
will study the American Englissh sound system, how speech
sounds (phonemes) are produced (articulation), and the
rules that govern the use of its phonemes (phonology).

Students
will learn allophonic variations as a result of phonetic
environments and will learn to recognize patterns of
articulatory differences.
