The
Grossmont Symphony Orchestra (GSO), and
Master Chorale (GMC), are East County's answer to
quality classical music performances. Under the musical direction of
Randall Tweed, the seventy-five member orchestral and fifty member
choral ensembles are
comprised of music and non-music majors, music teachers, and
talented musicians from the community.
The 2011-2012
performance season, finds the ensembles performing
in venues throughout all of San Diego County. With the temporary
closure of our performance home—El Cajon’s own
East County Performing Arts
Center—the symphony orchestra and master chorale now perform
throughout all of San Diego County underlining one of
the Grossmont College’s missions—music
in support our community. From school to church, El Cajon to
Chula Vista to Oceanside—Grossmont is performing near you!
The new performance season also
offers two core ensembles within the GSO: the Grossmont
Symphony String Quartet (GSSQ) and Woodwind Quintet
(GSWQ). All ensembles perform a season of varied and challenging
repertoire.
Based at Grossmont College, the ensembles serve the cultural
enrichment of not only San Diego's East County, but the
county at large.
