M2C3 Membership

We are pleased to announce Grossmont College’s membership in the Minority Male Community College Collaborative (M2C3) National Consortium on College Men of Color.

M2C3 is a project of San Diego State University’s Interwork Institute that was established with a grant from the San Diego State University Presidential Leadership Fund. The goal of the project is to partner with community colleges across the United States to enhance access, achievement, and success among minority male community college students. M2C3’s research and practice agenda prioritizes men who have been traditionally underrepresented and underserved in postsecondary education.

As a M2C3 member, Grossmont College will utilize:

  • Access to M2C3 webinars on men of color
  • Access to the M2C3 virtual discussion board
  • Participation in information-sharing on promising practices with other community colleges
  • Participation in an annual working group meeting hosted in San Diego

For more information visit M2C3 online, the Calendar of Professional Development Activities or contact Cindi Harris or Micah Jendian, Co-Coordinators of Professional Development.

Spring 2016 Classified Convocation: Agents of Change

Please join us on Friday, January 8th in Griffin Gate for a motivating and inspiring convocation just for classified staff at Grossmont. We will be talking about exciting opportunities to be "Agents of Change" at our college and in our district! Our keynote speakers, Dr. Frank Harris and Dr. J. Luke Wood will be speaking about student engagement and how classified staff can be "Agents of Change" through student engagement. Are keynote speakers are the project co-directors for the Minority Male Community College Collaborative (M2C3). Their work focuses on working with community colleges to enhance access, achievement, and success among minority male community college students. For more information on our keynote speakers please see the M2C3 membership tab below! And read the blog that inspired your Classified Staff Professional Development Committee to invite Dr. Harris and Dr. Wood: Click Here

Classified Staff will report to the Student Center for breakfast and time with colleagues between 7:00 am-8:00am.  As a part of their regular work day, the convocation program will begin in Griffin Gate starting promptly at 8:00 and will conclude by 10:50am.  To ensure that all classified staff are able to attend, we will delay opening college offices until 11am that day.

Voices from the Community

Dave Dillon came across this 10 minute video in the Chronicle for Higher Education and was moved by it. He asked us to pass it along. The Chronicle asked LGBTQ students what they want their professors to know. Watch what they said by clicking here (will open in a new window).

Frank Harris III and J. Luke Wood, from M2C3, have published a new blog in the Huffington Post. The blog is titled "The 3 Worst Job Types for College Men of Color."
