About the English Skills Peer Tutors
To provide tutor service
during all open hours, approximately 20 English Skills Peer Tutors
work in the EWC.
Some of the peer tutors
are

Grossmont students
-
Former Grossmont
students who started as tutors while studying at Grossmont and
have maintained their jobs in the EWC while finishing upper
division work at San Diego State University
-
Graduate students at
San Diego State University; many of them aspire to teach English
at the community college level
All
English Skills Peer Tutors are initially selected as a result of
their high achievement in English classes and their high writing
proficiency; also, all newly hired English Skills Peer Tutors engage
in rigorous training to enhance their understanding of grammar,
punctuation, and the writing process.
