"I Have a Dream" Speech
Close your eyes, and you will think that you are standing on the
steps of the Lincoln Memorial on Aug. 28, 1963. Take advantage of
this unique opportunity to “let freedom ring” and experience the
voice inflection and mannerism of Dr. Martin Luther King of his “I
Have A Dream” speech, as performed by Mr. David Johnson, a Dr. King
orator, on Tuesday, Feb. 9, at noon and 7 p.m. Admission is free.
The event is open to the public. It will be a great opportunity for
entire families to re-live in person the powerful oratory delivery
of Dr. King. The noon performance will be held in the college’s Main
Quad. Also at noon will be performances by the Afro-Cuban Ensemble.
The 7 p.m. performance will be held in Lecture Hall room #220. Mr.
Johnson’s appearance is made possible by a grant from the Grossmont
College World Arts and Cultures Committee.
