This year’s General Session Meeting was an energetic beginning to what is surely will be considered a productive Flex Week, focusing primarily on the development of Student Learning Outcomes. Thanks to Governing Board president Bill Garrett and Trustees Alexander, Barr, Caruthers and Weeks for joining us, and to our Grossmont College Foundation for our continental breakfast. Special thanks to the Faculty Professional Development Committee, Jeff Lehman, Renee Tuller, Edda Temoche-Weldele, and of course, Chris Hill for their important contributions to making the week a success.

In addition to the full Flex Week calendar for faculty, we organized information sessions for new Classified staff. Each identical session included an overview of community colleges, our college, the Classified Senate, CSEA, and other important information suggested by a collegewide staff development committee.
Plans for parking are progressing. Tim Flood, John al-Amin, and Sunny Cooke staffed l “Listening Posts” during the week which provided individuals with the opportunity to have their parking questions answered.

Additionally, the Loop road is open and Parking Lot 5 will be partially available at the onset of the semester, and sound walls will be provided for the 500 East Classrooms once construction on the new Parking Structure begins.
We are continuing with the installation of the football field and replacement of the Bookstore Roof. The Student Center has been painted in time to welcome our
