Twenty-nine Grossmont College students received more
than $19,450 in scholarships awarded at the September 9
Scholarship Breakfast sponsored by the Grossmont College
Foundation. We are particularly pleased to note that
four of the recipients are students who work in the LTRC
as tutors.
In prior years, this event had been scheduled annually
in the Spring. These are now semi-annual events, held
early in the semester, making it possible for students
to receive their scholarship checks when they can most
use the money.

Our new ROP Anesthesia Technology Program, offered
cooperatively through the
Cardiovascular Technology curriculum, is off to a banner
start with 32 students this fall.

Lively Mariachi performed in the Main Quad to herald Dr.
Carlos Contreras’ lecture about the meaning of September
16 as Mexican Independence Day. The World Arts &
Cultures Committee is busy at work planning the entire
year’s schedule of events, all of which are presented to
share the cultural wealth we represent as a community.
Upcoming events include Holidays Round the World
November 16, and the Arab Culture Day November 19. These
events are held in the Main Quad beginning at 11 a.m.

The
Grossmont Griffin Football Team is currently 6 – 1, and
will visit Victor Valley College this Saturday, October
21. The outcome will most likely decide the conference
championship.

Letter to Dean Jerry Buckley
September 14, 2006
Dear Dean Buckley:
It is my pleasure to inform that Grossmont College
has been selected as the recipient of ASATT Region 6
Educational Award for 2006. This award is based upon
continued dedication in sponsoring, promoting and
further education, thus advancing professionalism
among the anesthesia technicians and technologists
within each region. You were nominated from within
Region 6.
This Award will be presented during the luncheon at
the ASATT Annual Educational Conference, Friday the
13th of October at the Swissotel in Chicago. It is
an honor and a privilege to be able to present this
award and I hope that you are able to attend this
year’s conference. It you are unable to attend, the
Regional Director will accept the award on your
behalf and forward it to you.
Congratulations and we are grateful for all your
support and effort you have given to ASATT.
Sincerely,
Mary McGavock, LPN Cer. A.T.
