Enrollment Update

Our Second Eight Week session began October 16 and we anticipate a nice increase in FTES as a result of increasing the number of sections offered to 116, 54 of which had closed by last Thursday. Our team in the Counseling Department were at work calling waitlisted students to encourage them to come to the first meeting of the class, as it has been our experience that those students will likely be accommodated. We executed a tightly-targeted ad campaign at SDSU and through radio traffic spots.

Sevis Validation Project

Over the past ten days Grossmont College International Admissions staff conducted, at the request of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), a validation audit to measure Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) data integrity. SEVIS is a monitoring and tracking system for international students studying in the United States and is critical for national security. I am pleased to say that, in all cases, Grossmont College SEVIS data were determined to be comprehensive, accurate and in full compliance with DHS standards.

Congratulations to the Grossmont College Admissions & Records staff and in particular to Carol Compton, Mika Miller and Laith Shammas, who worked diligently to produce these excellent results.

As you may know, Grossmont College has over 650 international students enrolled in Fall 2006 classes, which is more than twice any other SDICCCA College.
