Grossmont Leads Regional Nursing Education Initiative

San Diego and Imperial County health care facilities can expect an infusion of more than 200 new nurses in the next few years thanks to a program now underway in our local community colleges with Grossmont College as the lead agency. With the assistance of new $2.051 million funding from Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Nurse Education Initiative, Grossmont College is aligning with San Diego City College, Southwestern College, Imperial Valley College and a host of local healthcare facilities and other agencies to address the chronic shortage of registered nurses.

The three-year funding awarded to Grossmont through the Center for Nursing Expansion/Innovation is to provide additional enrollment opportunities for students who may have been unable to enroll in impacted nursing programs.back to top
