College Facts and Information

As a college, we are engaged in a wide range of essential planning activities, many of which require close coordination with the district. In a continuing effort to help everyone in our Grossmont College community have access to the most up-to-date and accurate information possible, we are initiating a College Facts and Information service to:

  • answer questions posed by individuals and/or groups;
  • to develop a bank of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQS).

The college President’s Cabinet will serve in a resource and/or referral capacity, compiling the FAQs and sharing the most current information with the campus on a periodic basis.

Inquiries may be submitted using the internet form posted at the College Facts and Information website.

Spring Bonus Session

The Enrollment Strategies Committee, under the leadership of Dr. Dean Colli, has done a terrific job of thinking outside the box to help our students succeed. As a result of their suggestion, we have added a ‘spring bonus session’ to our Spring 2005 academic calendar. This four-week session in June will enable SDSU-bound students to complete needed transfer courses before the June 30 deadline imposed by SDSU. Thanks to our academic deans and faculty for coming forward to help make this innovative new service a reality, and to our counseling staff for their insights as to how we might better serve students.

Recycling Efforts Pay Off

Please join with me in thanking Walter Sachau, Tim Flood, and Dr. Debra Fitzsimons for their success in helping Grossmont meet and exceed recycling requirements mandated by the state for the fourth consecutive year. The year 2004 was especially challenging because our goal was doubled! Our efforts to increase our recycling continue and we are launching a new campaign to help us recycle as much as possible.

Because we hope everyone in the Grossmont College community will be interested in our progress, we plan to install another display soon in the Student Center.

Learning Communities Forum

Thanks to Dr. Mary Donnelly, Sue Jensen, and Linda Mitchell and the entire English Department for their passion for Learning Communities and their efforts to spread the word to our regional community college community. It was a pleasure for Grossmont College to host a day-long Learning Communities Symposium on April 15 here in Griffin Gate. Participants had the opportunity not only to learn more about Learning Communities, but to create their own approaches in a workshop environment.
