Cardiovascular Technology Earns Accreditation Kudos |
|
Rick Kirby, our CVT Program Director reports that all
aspects of the recent CVT accreditation site visit went
very well. The program received commendations for the
curriculum, facilities, including the labs and
equipment, learning resources, counseling and health
services, as well as student outcomes and the dedication
of the faculty. There were no negative comments, and
Rick is especially excited that the team’s
recommendations include an interval of 10 years, instead
of the usual five, as the interval until the next site
visit. They also recommend that Grossmont’s graduation
competencies be used as the national model. We are
justifiably proud of this exemplary program that
supplies Cardiovascular Technologists for not only our
region and state’s facilities, but for the Mayo Clinic
as well. |
GC Sets Pace for San Diego Blood Bank Donations |
 |
For 25 years,
Grossmont College faculty, staff and students
have helped keep a ready supply of blood for our
region. Last year, Grossmont College produced
145 units of blood in six drives, making us
first in the ranks of community colleges and
fourth in all of San Diego County. Health Services Specialist Juliette Harrington,
tells us that repeat donors from the Grossmont
College faculty and staff make the difference,
especially during the summer months. |

Letters to the President |
|
Dear President:
I just completed the course Oceanography Lab 113 during
the spring semester and wish to express my appreciation
for the opportunity of attending such an outstanding
class.
The addition of a lab class to augment Oceanography 112
is but another example of the continued excellence of
the Earth Science Department at the college. The
practical application of oceanography as presented by
Professor Chris Hill on field trips to Lake Murray,
Ocean and Mission Beaches were truly outstanding.
The quality of your instructors and instruction at
Grossmont College continues to amaze me. The present
generation is truly lucky to encounter an instructor
such as Professor Hill.
I am looking forward to my continuing association with
Grossmont College and Professor Hill’s California
Geology class in the fall.
John Parker

Dear President:
I have just completed the course Geography 180
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) during the spring
semester, and wish to express my appreciation for the
opportunity of attending such an outstanding class.
For the past forty years, since my retirement from the
U.S. Navy, I have made my living in electronics,
primarily designing control systems for elevators. If I
were younger, Professor Goodman’s class could have
changed my life’s direction. GIS as presented by
Professor Goodman is so exciting that pursuing a career
in GIS seems only natural.
The quality of your instructors and instruction at
Grossmont College continues to amaze me. The present
generation is truly lucky to encounter an instructor
such as Professor Goodman.
I am looking forward to my continuing association with
Grossmont College.
