Student Rally Generates More Postcards for Campaign |
Nearly 300 postcards destined for Sacramento were
generated at the Regional Student Protest Rally March
25, hosted by the students of Grossmont College. Thanks
to Trustee Alexander and Grossmont alumni Ernie Ewin and
Eric Lund for joining us in the Quad to help our
students protest state budget cuts. Thanks also to Jack
Peters, Susan Herney, Dana Quittner, and Della Elliott
for their assistance in this continuing advocacy effort. |
Kudos to Committee for
'Health & Wellness' Fair |
| A campus-wide committee came together to plan and
execute the first health awareness fair held on the
campus in many years. The theme, “Health – For Life” was
carried out by representatives of health care provider
organizations as well as local health and
healthy-lifestyle vendors and non-profit organizations.
A highlight of the day’s schedule was a panel of
employers regarding drug testing in the workplace,
moderated by Nancy Davis. Special thanks to Counselor
Jim Tolbert for his leadership role in this event. |

We are greatly pleased to acknowledge and thank
Congressman Duncan Hunter for his assistance in gaining

Child Development Center
Review Garners High Praise |
Recently, two representatives from the California Child
Development Division of the State Department of
Education visited the Child Development Center on campus
for a Contract Monitoring Review (CMR). This review
takes place every three years and is a thorough review
of all aspects of the program.
Mary Courtney, coordinator, reports that our program was
found in compliance. The CDD Reviewers commented that
our files were the “cleanest” that had reviewed in a
long time. Carla Daughrity is the individual in our
office primarily responsible for these files and we
commend her hard work and dedication. The CDD Reviewers
also commented on the overall quality of our program in
meeting the needs of families and children. The entire
staff works hard to make it possible for parents to
attend classes and be successful students at Grossmont
and to provide an excellent child development program
for their children. |
