Students are eager to apply and register for the spring
2003 semester. Our latest figures are shown below. Our
enrollment strategies committee has been meeting to
determine target goals and class sections to be offered
in upcoming semesters. We are continuing to
be efficient in class loading, and expect the fill rate
this semester to be in the 90 percent range.
The following is a comparative analysis of Spring 2003
enrollment as of January 3, 2003 to the same
enrollment dates for Spring 2002:

68 New Registered Nurses Join Workforce |
Congratulations
are in order for 68 new RNs, all recent Grossmont
College graduates, who passed the State Board Exam.
Commendations are also due to the faculty and
administrators of our excellent nursing program. As you
know, jobs for these new registered nurses are
plentiful, and we wish them well in their nursing
careers. Local medical facilities tell us that they
prefer to hire Grossmont College graduate nurses and we
are happy to have so many more in the pipeline, thanks
to the weekend/evening nursing program established last
fall through the generosity and foresight of the
Grossmont Health Care District. |

Debate Team Scores Trophies at Two Large Meets |
November was an active and productive month for the
Griffin Speech and Debate team. First came the
Griffin/Mann Invitational Tournament held here on our
own campus, which included teams from 23 schools (three
from Arizona). Three GC speech students won two awards
each, and 10 faculty and 50 students from the GC
Communication Department assisted with the tournament.
Next, the CSU Northridge Speech and Debate Tournament
were held with 44 colleges and universities in
attendance. Four students placed in the tournament,
including Jason Kiner who brought home a first place in
Novice Poetry. Good work by Director of Forensics,
Roxanne Tuscany.
