Specialized Classes and Programs

DSPS offers a variety of classes that provide students with instruction and practical experience in developing compensatory strategies. Students will learn to use appropriate assistive technology to facilitate their access to educational materials and environments.

These courses are intended to enhance students' opportunities for academic success in mainstream courses.

Current Course Offerings

Adapted Physical Education
The intent of these courses is to help students with disabilities maintain and improve their physical stamina and skill. Adapted physical education classes meet the general education requirements for an associate degree.

Adapted Computer Studies
With the guidance of instructors and specially trained lab aides, students learn at their own pace in these courses that focus on the independent use of assistive and standard computer software and hardware. All courses are held in the Assistive Technology Center (ATC), which has a large library of instructional and assistive computer software. Access to the Internet is also available.
