Decision Making
1 unit, 1 hour lecture
The utilization of a group seminar structure to explore
individual interests, values, personality traits, and psychological needs
and relate these characteristics to vocational aspirations in our changing
world. Participants will be given a chance to learn how to write a job
resume, complete job applications, and interview for jobs. This course is
offered on a Credit/No Credit basis only.

PDC 120 - College and Career
Success
3 units, 3 hours lecture
Learn how to be successful in college by improving study
skills such as textbook reading and marking, note-taking, listening to
lectures, managing time, studying for tests and improving memory.
Additional success topics include exploring motivation and attitudes,
managing stress, developing creativity, improving communications and
relationships, and maintaining interests, aptitudes and personal strengths
in order to plan your education and a successful career. Topics from
developmental psychology, learning theory and personality theory will be
presented as a foundation for the course.

PDC 125 - Study Skills for Biology
120
1 unit, 1 hour lecture
Corequisite: Biology 120
A course designed to assist students in developing and
utilizing effective study skills for Biology 120. The class will emphasize
note-taking methods, textbook mastery, and principles of learning and
remembering that enhance acquisition of Biology 120 concepts and facts.
Students will identify various aspects of their learning style (perceptual
and cognitive) and use their learning strengths to develop and use study
strategies that are appropriate for a science course. This course is
offered on a Credit/No Credit basis only.

PDC 126 - Orientation to College:
Re-entry Students
2 units, 2 hours lecture
A discussion group to help the returning older students
adjust to college, meet other mature students with similar interests and
concerns, and help them look ahead to changes in their lives. Films, guest
speakers, visits to the Career Center and the Learning Resource Center,
and important information about the catalog and schedule of classes as
well as graduation and transfer information is included.

PDC 130 - Study Skills and Time
Management
1 unit, 1 hour lecture
To prepare students to adjust to the academic community by
learning to study effectively in given time limitations. Class emphasizes
time management, textbook mastery, research skills, goal-setting,
note-taking, and stress reduction. This course is offered on a Credit/No
Credit basis only.
PDC 137 - Seven Ways to Maximize
Learning
1/2 unit, 8 hour lecture session
An interactive and cooperative learning approach designed
to explore, discuss and implement proven strategies to enhance success in
college. The course will review study skills and emphasize developing a
student educational plan to achieve expected outcomes in college and
beyond. This course is offered on a Credit/No Credit basis only.

PDC 299 - Strategies for Success in Online Courses
1/2 unit, 8 hour lecture session
To prepare students to achieve success in online
courses by a basic introduction to methods used for online instruction
such as WebCT and Blackboard. In addition, students will learn a
basic understanding of terms and technology requirements. This course is offered on a Credit/No Credit basis only.
