English as a Second Language Orientation/Class Selection

What does my ESL placement result mean?

  1. If your placement result is ESL 70-71, or 80-81, or 96, or 100, Grossmont College recommends that you take English as a Second Language courses ONLY.

  2. You can make an appointment for the math test by calling or visiting the Assessment Office, Building 10, (619) 644-7200.

  3. Complete Online Advising (you will receive your assessment results with an explanation and you will be presented with your first semester plan. 

Optional: If your placement result is ESL 103, or 106, or 119, an on-campus assistance workshops will be available. These workshops are available by appointment only.  Workshop appointments information is posted on the Counseling Center web site. You are required to bring your first semester plan from the Online Advising with you to the workshop to gain entry.

You can view your ESL assessment results on the WebAdvisor. Results may take up to 7 business days. Click HERE for instructions.
