Sonia Borg

soniaborg@yahoo.com
Dr. Sonia Borg, believes that teaching is about relating and learning is
about enjoyment. She teaches the skill of public speaking, but thinks
that her students walk away not only overcoming their fears of speaking,
but in the process, they also learn more about themselves and others.
"I try to get my students to think differently. I want them to leave
with paradigm shifts. I want them to see that they have options." Sonia
studied communications because she found it fascinating and fundamental
to so many areas of her life. She wanted her buds to have great learning
experiences too, so she became a college professor at age 23. "In high
school I was a "D" student. The only reason I graduated college was
because I made learning a blast." Sonia earned a B.A. and Masters Degree
in Speech Communication, a Masters in Public Health, and a Ph.D. in
Human Sexuality. She has been teaching for 10 years and wrote a book for
beginning teachers titled: Who? What? When? Where? How? A guidebook for
beginning teachers. When she is not teaching, Sonia is a life/health
coach helping others live their version of "It's a great life." During
her career as an adjunct instructor, she has had many interesting jobs
and life experiences that led her to believe that the classroom is a
place to practice, take risks, and learn from mistakes. There is always
learning and each can be a metaphor for our LIFE. [top ] |

Laura Knight tel: 619.644.7454 x3852
laura.knight@gcccd.edu
Laura
fell in love with interpersonal communication when she took
a course in it at Moorpark College (a community college
in Ventura County). From that moment, she knew some day she would eventually
teach. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Speech
Communication and a Master's degree in Communication
from San Diego State University. She loves
teaching interpersonal communication. Laura believes teaching is a two way
process. One of her goals is to learn from her students, as well as having them learn
from her class. When not in the
classroom, Laura enjoys kayaking in San Diego's bays, swimming,
researching family history, and working on her
house.
