Attention All Applicants and
Cardiovascular Technology Students

Please be aware that students accepted to the Health Professions Programs (Nursing, RT, CVT, SLPA, OTA) at Grossmont College are required to undergo a background check and/or a urine drug screening test before starting the program or being placed at a clinical site. We expect the cost of these procedures may be $70 - $120. The student will be responsible for paying these fees.

It should be noted that failure to pass either or both of these procedures may interfere with clinical placement and / or acceptance of the student into his / her selected program.

q Log onto health.ucsd.edu/compliance. [Note: copy the website and paste into your Internet browser.]

q From the gold bar of submenus on the left side, click on HIPAA [towards bottom of left-hand column].

q In the middle of the next page, find and click on the fourth module entitled “HIPAA Privacy for Healthcare Providers”. [It is a 38-slide PowerPoint presentation.] Complete this module [about 15 minutes].

q The last page of the module [slide 38] is an acknowledgment form [“the certificate] that can be printed, signed and returned to the clinical instructor for completion of the chart below. Print and complete only the last page. [Note: There is no post-test.]
