Cardiovascular Technology

 

 

Upon Acceptance

When notified of acceptance into the Cardiovascular Technology Program each student is required to:  
  • Complete all admission requirements to attend Grossmont College. Refer to the Grossmont College Catalog for details or check with the Admissions and Records Office. 
  • Submit evidence of a satisfactory medical and dental examination. Forms are provided by the CVT Office and will be mailed to entering students with their acceptance packets in May. Completed forms must be returned to the CVT office by the last working day of July

    Prior to entering clinical training at the end of the second semester, the student must have a current CPR card, lab coat and malpractice insurance coverage. CPR training is available from the American Red Cross, the San Diego Chapter of the American Heart Association, and hospitals and clinics throughout the San Diego area. Insurance application forms are supplied at the end of the first year of the program by the CVT office. The cost of insurance for the entire program is approximately $20.00. 

Student Assistance

To enhance the quality of instructional programs and assist students in achieving their academic goals, Student Services, in addition to its Admissions, Financial Aid, and Counseling departments, provides the following services: Assessment, Bookstore, Career Planning, Disabled Students Services, EOPS, Health Services, Re-Entry Center, Tutoring and Student Affairs (Associated Students of Grossmont College). All new students are encouraged to attend one of the New Student Advising Sessions. For more information contact the Grossmont College Counseling Center.

Financial Aid

Apply or renew your financial aid on line at http://www.grossmont.edu/fa/ or visit the Financial Aid Office, Room 107 in the Administration Building for an application.  Apply early.

For information and applications for Grossmont College scholarships for nursing and health science students, visit the above website and look under "Scholarships" or visit the Financial Aid Office.  There are two brief application periods for these scholarships, one at the beginning of the fall semester and one at the beginning of the spring semester.  Applicants are always needed for the ASGC Bookstore awards offered each semester.  In addition to Grossmont's scholarships listed on the above website, there are scholarship databases on line that can be accessed through the above scholarship page.  These databases allow you to perform an interactive search on line.  Scholarship workshops are offered at the beginning of each semester to help you learn more about scholarships.  The dates and times for the workshops are listed on the website and are available from the Financial Aid Office.

Cost

    The total cost to complete the full two years of the program is approximately $2,000.  Following is a rough breakdown of the costs:

Resident Tuition as of Spring 2005 $26.00/Unit x 53 = $1378.00 (Major Only)
Books, Lab Coat, Malpractice Insurance, Etc. $1,000
Nonresident Tuition:  All above fees plus $151.00 Unit + $1,000
International Student:  All above fees plus $151.00 Unit + $1,000

Grossmont College is part of the California Community College system and requires an enrollment fee for all students, payable at the time of registration. All students are also required to pay a health fee. A parking fee will be charged to students using the parking facilities. Check the current class schedule for other costs (Health Fee, Student Benefit Card, Parking Fee, etc.) that may be incurred each semester as fees are subject to change from semester to semester depending on State Legislature.  A Student Benefit Card is optional. Students are required to purchase their own textbooks and supplies. The cost to CVT students for lab coats, malpractice insurance and textbooks is approximately $1,000 for the full two years of the program. Financial Aid is available to students who qualify.
