Our semester is flying by! Grossmont College has
scores of activities and events for students and staff, and a host of
programs that enrich the curriculum and provide new perspectives for our
students. Here are a few examples, in addition to a full calendar of
intercollegiate sports:
- Political Economy week,
developed by the Political
Science and Economics departments, providing
classroom presentations and guest lectures on a myriad of topics;
- Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, and
Humphrey, Albert and the Flying Machine in the Stagehouse Theatre
- Faculty Art Exhibition
- The French Grossmont Symphony Orchestra
- College Transfer Day
- Twenty-seventh Annual Career Expo
and Career Fair
- Contra Dance Exhibition and lessons with
Steven Wistrich
- El Dia de los Muertos – Day of the Dead exhibits by Cross-Cultural
Studies Department, and WACO
- Walk of Fame Gala
In addition, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Alliant
International University to provide yet another transfer option for our
students; introduced 26 new faculty members to the Governing Board, and
honored those recent retirees who joined the ranks of faculty emeriti.
Congratulations to Marcy Diehl; Homer Lusk; John Maley, Ph.D.; Diane Merlos,
Ph.D.; and James Sumich, Ph.D., who collectively represent more than 150
years of service to students and to our community.
We anticipate an even busier six weeks as we count down to the end of the
semester. Don’t miss out! Be sure to check the Dates and Events section.
As we approach our nation’s annual day of Thanksgiving, please know how
much I appreciate you all, your commitment to our mission, and your
dedication to our students.
Respectfully,
Ted Martinez, Jr.
