“Community colleges are the lynchpin of the state’s
higher education system. Not only do colleges like
Grossmont provide a bridge to four-year studies for
recent high school graduates, they offer opportunities
for lifelong learners, and access to retraining for
members of our community’s workforce.
However, funding only goes so far—that’s where our
Foundation comes in—to help bridge the funding gap for
programs we know are important but which do not always
receive priority for state funding, such as athletics
and theatre arts. Further, we know that our students are
among the most vulnerable to the spiraling cost of
higher education, and we are committed to helping them
cope with this challenge through our scholarship
program. We have established strategic plans for our Foundation,
including increasing our annual fundraising goals,
preparing for a capital campaign, and growing our
business partnerships. I am looking forward to
continuing a productive relationship with Dr. Martinez
and the exceptional administration at Grossmont College. The Foundation exists to serve Grossmont College and
ultimately, Grossmont College students. I am honored to
serve as president, and encourage everyone to give
whatever amount you can to support the work of the
Foundation. Every contribution makes our work that much
more effective.“
